Innovation Marketplace and Green Boating Stage

The Innovation Marketplace and Green Boating Stage—located in the Sail Loft parking lot—are brand new additions to Wooden Boat Festival. Presenting sponsor SEA Marine helped make this happen for 2022!

Here you'll find a place to showcase and learn about everything from solar and electric power to eco-friendly paints—learn why and how to dramatically reduce the climate and marine ecosystem impacts of your boating.

These are just a few of the presentations you can look forward to on the Green Boating Stage: First 100% Solar Cruise to Alaska | Alex Borton | Friday, 2 PM Electric & Hybrid Propulsion Systems: Range, Efficiency, & Peace of Mind | Alex Wilken, Seattle Boat Works | Saturday, 11 AM Inside Passage Decarbonizing Project's Golden Streamer Decarbonizer Awards | Friday, 4 PM Recognizing boaters that take action by using, enabling, and/or educating others of alternative clean vessel propulsion and lubrication that dramatically reduces carbon in the Inside Passage marine ecosystem.

Also new this year is the Woodworking Tent! Come inside to immerse yourself in woodcraft—vendors, presentations, demos, and a wood plankton art installation.

Don't miss vendor Renovo Bikes; they make bikes out of wood! Their woodworking is spectacular—they can bend wood further than anyone else. It's a must-see! Plus, Whale Song Signs will be demoing sign carving (they might even let you try) and Strait Turners Woodturning Club will be turning wood all weekend.

The Woodworking Stage within the Woodworking Tent is filled with all kinds of presentations—sharpening, carving, and tool making. Highlights include:

Turning a Mallet | John McCormack | Friday, 1 AM Hand-cut Dovetails | John McCormack | Friday, 1 PM Useful Tools a Woodworker Can Make for Themself | David Jackson | Saturday, 12 PM Sharpening Chisels & Planes | Tim Lawson | Sunday, 10 AM
