Seeking repairs for an old fountain pen

Dear Write to Know: Looking for someone on or near the Cape who refurbishes older fountain pens.

Dear E.C.: We spoke with Bruce Reid of Chatham and owner of Cape and Island Time, a clock repair business. He said that fountain pens can be very expensive, particularly Montblanc pens. He suggested you try an ink pens supply house or contact the company directly. For example, you can visit www.montblanc.com for more information. Also, if one of our readers knows how to refurbish old fountain pens, we will post any answers here.

Anyone have woodworking tools to donate?

Dear Write to Know: Woodworking tools wanted! Local non-profit needs unused woodworking tools for beginners’ workshop classes in decoy making. Donations of carving tools, such as chisels, gouges, and whittling, Murphy knives, or spokeshave and draw knives would be appreciated. We are also looking for a workbench. If any readers have one sitting around in a basement, we could gladly take it off their hands! Call Marie Kesten Zahn, Museum Director, Harwich Historical Society, 508-432-8089.

Dear M.Z.: We hope our crafty readers can help you out with woodworking tools. Thanks for providing your contact information. Good luck!

Retired engineer returns models to shipshape

Dear Write to Know: I was recently given a model ship of the HMS Victory, built by my uncle in the 1950s and which is in desperate need of some TLC. Would you know of a place that would be able to restore the model to its former glory? I appreciate any information you would be able to provide.

Dear A.P.: We recently spoke to Dick Ellington, of Eastham, a retired engineer who now builds and repairs model ships. He would be happy to speak to you about the repairs you need made. He can be reached at 508-255-1176.

Lemon Asparagus Pasta  works at any temperature

Dear Write to Know: With spring around the corner, I would love a light dinner recipe to serve my family. Do you have any ideas? Many thanks.

Dear K.F.: We found one that you might like from allrecipes.com. It is easy to make and can be served hot, warm, or cold. Enjoy!

Step 1: Fill a large pot with lightly salted water and bring to a boil. Stir in penne and return to a boil. Cook pasta uncovered, stirring occasionally, for about 8 minutes. Penne will still be slightly firm.

Step 2: Stir asparagus into the pot with the boiling penne pasta and bring back to a boil; cook until pasta is tender, and asparagus is softened but still bright green, about 3 more minutes. Drain pasta and asparagus.

Step 3: Place penne and asparagus into a large bowl; lightly stir in lemon zest, lemon juice, Parmesan cheese, olive oil, salt, and black pepper until thoroughly combined.
