Celebrating its 35th year, Floriade’s program for 2022 is packed with entertainment, workshops, events and more.

Floriade returns to Commonwealth Park for its 35th year with a massive program of music, entertainment, workshops, food, drinks, competitions and more.

Aside from the obvious must-dos - including wandering through the blooms, riding the Ferris Wheel and seeing the amazing musical acts - we’ve selected some highlights from this year’s program.

Introduction to Composting and Worm Farming:

Composting your food scraps or feeding them to a worm farm reduces your household waste and creates fantastic soil for the garden.

Learn options for growing your own produce using sustainable and regenerative techniques.

Women’s Woodworking Workshop:

Learn woodworking skills through a simple project which will take you through the use of power and hand tools and guide you on what you need for DIY jobs.

Relax and rejuvenate among the tulips with a one-hour guided morning yoga session. Combining movement and breathing sequences, this yoga session is suitable for all ages and fitness levels.

Commonwealth Park will host Floriade with the theme ‘The Sounds of Spring’.

A hands-on session where kids will learn about sustainability through a variety of activities including seed planting, recycling competition, and crafting with recycled materials.

Under guided instruction, kids will get creative and use a variety of tools to build their own wooden creations. Children will learn and develop their skills to make garden-themed objects, including Bird Feeders, Bug Keepers, Egg Baskets, Insect Hotels or Toolboxes.

Floriade’s dark side is also back with a program of music and entertainment. Catch the fluorescent glow and illuminations from 29 September to 2 October from 6:30pm to 10:30pm. Tickets are required to attend NightFest.

Australia’s favourite gardener and host of ABC’s Gardening Australia, Costa Georgiadis is headed to Floriade to share his love of nature and joy of gardening. Catch Costa speaking on Stage 88 and meeting events on Sunday 25 September.

This year Floriade will be designating the hour of 9am-10am each day of the festival as the Sensory Hour. During this hour there will be no stage programming and no loud amplified music.

Grab your puppy pal and get to Dogs’ Day Out! Occurring on the final day of Floriade, visitors can bring their dogs and frolic among the flowers.

Note: Dogs’ Day Out is the only day where dogs are permitted at Floriade.

Dogs’ Day Out will occur on the final day of the festival, Sunday October 16.

Following the end of the Floriade, the Great Big Bulb Dig allows Floriade visitors the opportunity to take home a part of festival. To gain access and dig for bulbs, Floriade visitors must purchase a bulb digging bag from the festival shop or Canberra Region Visitors Centre. All profits from the sale of the bags will go to local charities SEE-Change and Raw Potential thanks to the Synergy Group.

Catching public transport is the best way to get to Floriade. Leave the car at home and catch a bus or Light Rail to the city. From here, visitors can catch the free Floriade shuttle bus, walk, or ride an e-scooter to Commonwealth Park.

The dedicated Floriade shuttle bus service will run to and from Canberra city everyday of Floriade. On weekends the shuttle bus will extend operations to the National Triangle – between Kings, Commonwealth and Constitution Avenues.

There is limited parking in the vicinity of Floriade and Commonwealth Park, we advise visitors to use carparks in the city (CIT, Canberra Olympic Pool, Canberra Centre, and National Convention Centre).

Please note: There will there will be no westbound access from Parkes Way into Coranderrk Street on weekends during Floriade due to an upgrade to the intersection. Weekend closures will be in place (weather permitting):
